(no subject)

I have started watching Discovery season one
(I did not trust them, so I waited for certain spoilers and then to hear they fixed it)

The Klingon redesign is bizarre, and the choice to use Klingon with subtitles adds to the problem. It's awkward and distancing, and between makeup and costuming I'm unconvinced a Klingon can express an emotion. Nobody sounds fluent in their own language and it's ponderous slow, plus again not very emotive when you can't follow what words are stressed let alone how. It doesn't make them alien, just boring.

Because I knew stuff in advance I'm not angry or having many feelings about the plot so far, two episodes in. I can see why people want to avoid spoilers, but I don't see how being upset would enhance my day.

Series hasn't grabbed me yet, but I like the characters fine so far.
