Dec. 7th, 2020 09:30 pmToday I did one load of laundry and got a supermarket delivery
and then I decided that was Quite Enough
and I was done for the day.
... that was probably 1pm so I am not impressed with me.
I read the newspaper site a bunch, as per usual, but when I was going to type something here I just... politics makes me tired. Tired. And I think I have seen enough of how those conversations go in comments threads, and do not want to start that here.
I also dislike greatly how I have absolutely no power. One vote, which I know wont matter around here. Then just hanging on through the everything that follows.
It's why the President Baker daydream isnt going away any time soon. I realise reality politics involves getting lots of people to agree with you and trying to get laws passed and etc, but daydream politics can involve declaring the Stargate open for business.
... how's that for Brexit, anyone who wants out of europe can move to Britain 2.0, distant planet edition. Sure trade would get difficult, and you couldn't get as much through the stargate as you could even through the channel tunnel, but europe would be very far away.
... my keyboard just independently types 'please'. presumably some smart keys thing happened, but if this is the rise of AI sentience... well, it's 2020. Why not.
Planet England is one of the nicer fates they could arrange for us.
Daydream President would have to make a treaty with our new AI overlords.
Daydream queens get better frocks though. President suits all look the same for generations. Bit boring.
Though once you've won the election with term limits you could wear whatever frocks you liked.
Monarchy has the sole advantage of taking the long view. Also crown jewels. And castles. So that's three advantages. Though castles are a bit impractical.
I bought a Pathfinder supplement about castles. Corridors in Pathfinder are almost all ten feet wide because that's two squares on a battle map and models can pass each other. Imagine building everywhere on that scale. And then being full of hobbits.
