Book of Swords
Mar. 27th, 2022 10:57 amToday I finished reading the Book of Swords, parts I and II in paperback, edited by Gardner Dozois.
I say finished, I decided not to read the long story by George R R Martin in the back, because I've never liked the others of his. Grimdark.
There was a lot of dark to go around. Betrayal, addiction, slavery. Also hitting things with swords, but often in ways that went badly.
I dont think I was in the right mood for these. I know I read even short stories in bits, broken up by checking the news. The stories I remember didn't grab me, and I'm not sure I remember them all.
But given the givens, that may not be the books fault.
Probably just not a great match to my preferences.
