Mar. 17th, 2024 02:00 amThis week I have been mostly reading fanfic and not really clicking with it.
I think some of my fandoms are former fandoms now, really, so there's pages and pages of Marked for Later that does not appeal any more.
About the only canon I've been engaging with is Whoniverse stuff, mostly Torchwood, mostly audios.
And I dont read very much fanfic for that because there's still A Lot Of Canon to see hear read etc.
I have read a bunch of Torchwood Jack/Ianto fic but I noticed enough pattern that now I feel like I need to know the writers attitude to bisexuality and polyamory before I invest time into reading, because A Lot of fic seems to think it needs to Fix Jack. And much of the rest sets out to Fix Ianto. It depends how they feel about jealousy and the concept of fancying as many people as Jack does. And I know canon presents elements that lend themselves to that story but, not knowing which version it will be? Kind of yikes kind of often. Fic needs to work through some stuff, sure, but there's such different ideas of what Happily Ever After even means for them that the tags arent terribly useful.
I'm just having an unenthusiastic week really. It'll wear off.
