I am packed ready for my Quest.
So I'm about 24 hours early.
I have packed for a minor apocalypse. I have three days of outerwear, six days of underwear, and a Quest Dress, plus sleep things, a Warm Thing, a Rain Thing, and a garment for running outside if alarms go off. Also a spare pair of shoes. And an umbrella in the cunning umbrella holder on the outside of the trolley. I don't have a suitcase, I have a shopping trolley, so I'm going to have to keep it the right way up and keep it where I can keep an eye on it, or it will come undone at the least helpful moment.
I got a new camera. I have played with it so I have learned how it doesn't work. I think it will work fine for taking pictures of me in front of places so I can tell I've been.
I have packed my sonic screwdriver. This is of course Very Important.
I have a bag full of consumables, like toothwash and soap and sports drinks and food bars. It is a bit heavy but it will get lighter as I go along.
I have my usual handbag full of notepads and pens and headphones and Doctor Who audios and a torch and a telephone and a handkerchief and an accumulation of other useful things.
I have packed my other glasses, because I'm still not sure my new glasses are quite right. If they are then I'm mistaken in how I think eyes should work. It's offputting.
I have not purchased the thing for kneeling in gardens that it occurred to me would be useful after all this rain. I would have to go out today and hope the shop still has it.
My food is arriving between 0900 and 1100 and will be stuff that will keep in the cupboard until I get back. Except for the bread, which I shall eat before setting off, or take with me for munching.
If I was going to a convention I would need to pack other things for signings and suchlike, but I'm going on a Quest and landscapes do not precisely sign autographs.
Now I just have to hope that my mother is similarly prepared. Today is the day to send cats away. Tomorrow I will find out if she has finally decided to go. I hope so. Mum wanted to go, she just keeps changing her mind, after the room is booked.
... Quests with my mother along don't feel very Quest-y, but one of the earlier lessons from Questing was to accept help when I find it, and also that family has fun going places staring at things. So.
My grand plans for the summer got to the other end of summer without being very grand, I guess. Eh, is a good Quest anyways.

Date: 2010-08-27 10:41 am (UTC)I'm going to Discworld con and at the moment my quest is to get out of the house in half an hour. I'm hoping I can fulfil that.
