Dear Universe: 'delay' was not a request

beccaelizabethSo that lesson I was all waiting and ready to go to at 1600? I got there at 1545, to find two other students I met enrolling this morning also in that corridor trying to find the room. Then the teacher popped her head out and said 'Ah there you are, I was just going to send a search party'.
1530. And there I was thinking I was comfortably early.
My timetable said 4. Theirs too. I checked mine times with my tutor. I saw my tutor today and said 'Satire, 4pm'. Tutor could say 'actually it's 1530', but nooooo. So I've been late for every single thing today, bus through... well, evening bus goes at 23 past the hour, so the minute we were let out of class I was either an hour early or just then late. I think I'm going to go get the next bus at the bus station. There's more walking, but more shelter and seating for the inevitable next bit of waiting.
Also there was music from the HE welcome party outside the classroom. Which combined poorly. 'A Modest Proposal' being read out, and assorted music including 'Just the two of us' and 'Hallelujah' from the windows.
The party is supposed to be in the quad. But just as it was scheduled to start there started to be rain of the kind you can only call bucketing down, the sort that hits the windows so hard my computer got splashed two desks away and you couldn't see out. I walked through the assigned area on my way to the library. The music has a little tent and the roast beasts have a little tend and the few students have huddling under a covered walkway down one edge. Even in optimum conditions I would not feel social right now, but those are really not optimum.
My new glasses are officially a waste of time. I can read the spines of books from two library desklets away in my new ones and six desks away in my old ones. Something wrong there. I shall take them back. This time for sure. Don't know why I wore them today. Apart from I'd left them in the front room in easy reach.
Grump grump grumble.
Okay, I'm done.
I will look at pretty pictures for a few minutes, pack up and head for the bus station.
