Doctor Who: Silver Nemesis
Apr. 24th, 2011 08:43 pmI have been watching through my Doctor Who DVD pile. In the last few days I have watched Revenge of the Cybermen (yaays) and Horns of Nimon (a bit yaay) and Meglos (spiky Doctor!) and now Silver Nemesis.
The 80s do not sound right. If there was a version without music I would listen to that, but instead I tend to turn the sound off and read.
The thing about Silver Nemesis is: somebody thought that was a good idea. Somebody in fact thought that was a bunch of good ideas and put them all together. And then it got on television.
Speaking as an aspiring scriptwriter: there's hope for us all.
I have previously compared some stories to those cakes that aren't quite done right so you can taste the flour and sugar and fat all separate. This one is more like a whole Sunday lunch poured in the same bowl and stirred. And not a very good sunday lunch to start with, one of those boarding school specials with the mystery meat that was probably a pig at some point and the custard that seems to be made of grit. The end result is... spectacular, in its own special way.
I do like Ace and the little conversation with the Doctor saying of course she hasn't got any Nitro 9 and by the way go blow up the spaceship with it please. Ace is win.
I like the glowy statue too. Also that Ace seems to have instant / chemistry with a glowy statue that is a weapon of mass destruction. Her girlfriends are often win, and that's a particularly excellent example.
Cybermen with cricket gloves on isn't quite right.
... nope, that's all I've got before I go *facepalm*.
Now I'm listening to the Torchwood that was on the radio earlier. I know I own it but... okay, I have nothing to go with the but, except, yaays Ianto and Jack and Torchwood!
I've relistened a bunch more times than I've rewatched. I think because audio Torchwood hasn't pissed me off yet.
Next I must decide between More Doctor Who, something from teh cheap martial arts movies pile, or doing actual studying for college.
... college is not winning.
