I appear to have read all the Stargate SG1 fic on AO3 over 10,000 words.
Actually, all the Jack/Daniel m/m fic, with no Warnings.
It's not that I mind gen, it's just that Jack/Sam tends to make me not like either of them very much, and there's too much fic that thinks it's gen if it's not explicit but is secretly het. There's a line between 'mentions their ex/dead wives' and 'spends half the story being all googly eyed over a woman who is quite interesting when she gets stuff to do other than be googly eyed back'. Of course Jack/Daniel deals with the canon Sam Thing with varying degrees of *facepalm*. I prefer the interpretation where he loves all of them. The ones where it's a cover story make him all kinds of bastard. The ones that explain Sam is starry eyed about some guy she made up in her head seem plausible to a point.
Stories where Sam ends up with Teal'c basically because Jack is with Daniel and someone decided to be tidy... no. T has people. Sam has a life outside SG1. Tidy pairs are not necessary.
J/D written early in the series tends towards sweet and hopeful and yearning and the complication is the wife and duty issues.
J/D written after Daniel did the yoyo thing... it has Issues all over, but they're mostly J/D issues. Early enough, Daniel was only away, and now he's back, and there's happy. But the later it gets the more it looks like they broke up and stopped caring and it can get all sad and bitter. :-(
I like stories where they figure out how to balance SG1 and the General in Washington stuff.
It just gets harder the later in canon its set. Like, if they hadn't got together already, why not? And if they had, there were breaks. And Stuff.
I haven't rewatched the DVDs for ages.
... come to think, I don't think I can rewatch the season 1 DVDs on the current main equipment setup. I have a multi region player somewhere around here but its not upscaling and the quality drop is notable.
Fic that includes Cam can be very weird about him. There seems to be a lot that's about how he secretly ruined J/D. Or possibly I hit a bad streak.
I liked one where he went to live with Sheppard and McKay visited with a girlfriend and it was really obvious Rodney's life would be so much simpler if he was gay.
... I don't even watch Atlantis but I have so many opinions on those two. Fanfic is a happy place.
I found two stories about learning to live with your symbiote, and I liked them both.
I found a bunch of fic about Look At Weird People Who Are Not American, Aren't They Weird? And I did not like any of it. A plot needs to consist of more than wiki sourced tourism. :-p
So now I seem to have read All The Fic. If it gets shorter I get crankier cause it usually doesn't put plot in. I read it all quick and only left comments a couple of times cause I'm helpful like that.
I have already read All The Fic in Due South on AO3 as well.
I know there is more fic on the internet than AO3. But once there's so much in one place it somehow gets harder to go looking elsewhere. Especially when it's searchable shiny and stuff. Series all in neat linked lists, searches you can organise by word count, tags... shiny.
So now if I want to read more I need to rediscover where the archives are at. Or the LJ rec comms maybe.
Trying to find the good fic, even the everyone recs it everyone thinks everyone has read it fic, is not so easy when one is not in the fandom any more.
Jack/Daniel with Warnings for non-con and character death.
Somewhere that isn't all xover AUs all the time.
... there are only so many quantum mirror stories one can read in a lifetime.
Actually, there's only a week before college starts again. Probably I'll stop being on such a fanfic kick.
I was going to say I could write more if I read less, but I don't think I could, I tend to grind to a halt after two or three thousand words and just not recharge for a while.

green grrl has a recs list here (she sorts them by theme, and note her EPIC list, which means really long stories):

icarus has a really good recs list, which is one of the first ones I found, but some of the links are broken now.

another recs list I started with back in 2006 -- again, some broken links, but lots of classics:

also, you know about Area 52, right?

Date: 2011-11-16 08:59 pm (UTC)If you can spare time for a little gen fic... I have a rec archive, covering five years' worth of gen recs. Over 700 of 'em, all organized by tags. Hope something suits you. :)
