Sep. 25th, 2011 11:23 pmreading Atlantis fic without having seen the episodes is a weird exercise in triangulation. Like, if everyone writes about the same characters with the same names, they were probably in canon. Probably. The more the characterisations are all over the place, the less episodes they were in. Likely. And the more fics start with a particular jumping off point, the more likely it was to be an end of season cliffhanger or something.
Except it could also be a fic challenge, a piece of fanon that proliferated, or, well, coincidence.
so there's this weird skeletal not-canon building up in my head where all these fics hang together. And it may have absolutely nothing to do with what was actually on TV.
It's getting so I want to buy the DVDs just to see where the bones actually went.
Except I suspect even with really low expectations it would manage to disappoint.
Also, I still haven't bothered reading anything that wasn't slash. So TV is rarely for me.
I probably have more productive things to do. Somewhere around here. I could be reading collegey stuff.
But I'm still not enrolled and I can't get on blackboard and I've read the handouts and we went over the prose reader in class already and I've read the two texts we'll cover in the first six weeks and I've read most of the poems and without a list of theory reading I've read, well, most things. I'd have to go apply brain to poetry really hard.
weirdly I'd rather be reading about John and Rodney having sex. And I don't fancy either of them.
... I do keep getting poetry ideas about them though. it's weird when the streams cross.

Date: 2011-09-26 12:23 pm (UTC)I mean, despite there being multiple stories about the cast being turned into aquatic animals, the show probably didn't go there. probably.
