Jun. 1st, 2005 07:14 pmTalked to mum on the phone. Apparently she hasn't watched the last two weeks of Doctor Who because I wasn't there. But she dislikes teh idea of a bisexual character. Fortunately, only for the exact reason she dislikes Rose - Doctor Who isn't supposed to be about that. Thinks the focus of the show is All Wrong. Which I agree with, if I compare it to before, but I liked the last two eps anyways.
There is a desk waiting for me. Possibly a corner desk. It is in pieces. It also has matching shelves. I might actually get to rearrange my computer so I can use it without being all twisty. With luck I'll even manage to get the thing set up so it lacks the spaghetti between it and the wall shelves. This is of the good.
Also, there is a blue lap tray that I can probably have. I've had mum's lap tray borrowed since I got my laptop computer, so this woul be of the good. Matching the color scheme even. Coolness.

Date: 2005-06-01 06:26 pm (UTC)But... there has been romance/sexuality on the show in the past. Not with the Doctor (since everyone seems to ignore the Grace thing), but just going by the last couple of episodes that I've watched - Jo falling in love with Clifford Jones in The Green Death. The villain whose name I can't remember and his Phantom-type obsession over Peri in Caves of Androzani. Susan falling for David and staying behind with him in Dalek Invasion of Earth. (I'd include the fact that Ian and Barbara were clearly shagging like weasels, but that might just have been me). I don't think having an openly bi or gay companion's any different to having an openly hetero one.

Date: 2005-06-01 10:05 pm (UTC)What mum and I are annoyed about is proportions, what seems to be the focus now. Like it should be adventure stories with the Doctor being helped by his companions, but it feels more like it is about Rose and this strange guy she met and their relationship and oh yeah, saving the world a bit. Like the focus has changed.
Dont know if I'm overreacting even, just feel like its different.
