Am reading a paper about the "diaspora" diaspora.
*facepalm*

... it's because everybody from a bunch of different subjects and areas nicked off with the word and made it their own, so there's an argue about what diaspora actually means. So it do make sense. And yet...

I wonder what Emily the Linguistics major would have to say. Maybe I'll ask her when she gets home, if I remember.

apparently the two poles of the argument are the one where diasporas are about communities with homelands that everyone came from and the one where diasporas are about communities that are all many places now but once came from a homeland. And the argue in the particular essay we were given is that it is important that it is both at once. So diaspora is about where you came from and where you are, both. Basically.

I don't know, I read it and I can see everyone is disagreeing but they appear to be disagreeing about the exact same things. *big shrug*
