My day was long and had college and going to the pub for the NSFG. It was interesting to me but probably not to the wider internet.

So, today: awake 0700ish. Do reading on The Chicago World's Fair 1893, as assigned. Discover bread for packed lunch is all mouldy. Pack cake instead. Sadly this is not a good thing, since there is such a thing as too much cake. Go to college on the bus. I finished listening to Gallifrey 1.3. Now the bus is quicker every adventure takes longer. I think this is not ideal for twisty conspiracy plots. I likes it, but it takes a while to pick up threads again. I got to college and went to have college canteen lunch. They no have vegetarian burgers today. I had hungry. I gave up and bought crisps. :-(

Lesson was not about the World's Fair. Lesson was about Jimmy Corrigan, and by the time the teacher had arrived we'd been grumping about it at each other for a bunch of minutes. He had :-) Spontaneous discussion! Even if we all hate it! We hate it with details, is good learnings. So we discussed why the thing is so hard to read and why the panels are so weird and what the relevance of Super-Man is (who is not Superman and is the wrong colors to be Superman and has a MASK and only one other person in the class noticed that is WRONG ALL WRONG so why, if he's making up a red and yellow masked dude with belt pouches, is he referencing Superman at all? it's annoying.) (and I said to teach about that Eco thing about comics always staying the same being wrong because they've changed a lot and he said that proves it was right and at some point someone did conversation magic and I don't even know. *headdesk*) He also said the point with the difficult text is to notice in what ways it makes itself difficult and talk about why and then you have an essay, you don't have to figure it out, it doesn't have one big huge meaning to grok, you just have to explain what its doing that is difficult. Okay then.

Then it was 3pm and time for the library. The Victorians and Victorianism bibliography is for last year and a different set of texts, but I did my best to sort it into things that might be useful this year. I went and got lots of books with Victorians in the title. One shelf full tried to fall on my head because it had all gone sideways. I told a librarian. They smiled. Then I went and checked the index for if it mentioned The Woman in White. I found some useful interesting bits. I made notes. The laptop ran out of power because the silent study area only has plugs that are already full of computer. I went upstairs to the HE study area, and discovered they have changed it so I can eat cold food there as well as bottled drinks. Win! Cake time! But not much because sweet. Then I did more reading, concluded once again that lit theorists are strange, strange people, put the book back, and went to walk to the pub.

By then it was 1830.

I walked into Norwich, got small Subway sandwich with no salad to test which bit was not agreeing with me other times, wandered through the town center and stopped to eat on a bench which is less fun when it is more dark, and went to the pub.

Lots of talking. Lots. Wandering through many topics. Including microwaves and Torchwood, which I stopped myself talking on, and Jimmy Corrigan again, which was less annoying when I know the person talking about it actually knows from comics, and some more Batman and Superman, and occasionally also the topic of the evening. I think maybe we need a talk stick so we take turns more. I think I save up a lot of talk and say it all. I said my idea about reimagining all SF shows on a bus. We figured which Doctor would have what bus. It was fun. Also we did bits on plotting and novels and if you start with plot or character (I said it depended on medium, because for TV you need strong characters that can run and run, but you can make the plot first for a novel. Of course really I mean the difference between multi author serials and single author one offs, but I'm used to thinking of it as TV and book.) And there was lots more talking and I actually attempted to take notes but its way more difficult and makes way less sense at the pub. And I don't even drink.

More plans were made to make the xmas meal be in Dereham with the nice Thai food place. That would be a win plan.

Then there was going home.

Then it was now and I try and unspool my day and have quiet brain again. It is unlikely to work for an hour. But I try.

So that was fun, but also long, and I'm really glad the only thing I have to do tomorrow is sleep.
I could dance, but that would involve energy, so currently I cannot imagine it.
