In case people think the gender of the cast is a spoiler,

At the end of last series there was this great visual of the group, two women and a man.
In the promo pictures there are two men and a woman. Again.
The woman being front and center doesn't actually make me think of it as an improvement.

Actually no, looking for visual backup for this I found it's a bit worse than that:

Last season's promo images were 50/50 men and women: Like at the top of this review of the finale and a different one with more teeth showing or the weird one in the supermarket (all those links with old spoilers for last ep). The last image of the season was two women around one man.

This season? (New spoilers in the images and text)

There's 7 people in that picture and only one of them is a woman.

Though most of them are just background, the character profiles page only has the central three, two men to one woman.

http://www.denofgeek.com/television/1196592/being_human_series_4_pictures_released.html has some more pictures. Still no more women.

I'm not getting into anything beyond the counting, but the count is annoying.
And I don't suspect the writers or makers or anyone involved in it to have thought as far as counting in the first place.

This is indeed worrying. At the end of last season we had Annie and George left from the original housemates, Nina who was in the series almost as long and possibly Tom, though I remember wondering if he made it out alife of his last fight. Now things are all shifted around, there seems to be a new guy out of the blue (and why is it not a new girl? We already had so many new males last time: McNair, Tom, Adam.) and two of the established characters have faded to the background with only one of them (the male) in a promo picture. I'm supposed to care about this apparent new show in the disguise of a familiar one why again?

I'm not reading the text on purpose so I can stay light on spoilers in case I watch and don't have more reason to be disappointed if I don't. Last season didn't turn out that great and I was hoping they'd at least spend some time on the reaction of the group left behind before bringing new regulars on. And maybe show us more about that vampire special ops team. *shrugs* It's been almost a year since last season and I'm still quite meh about new episodes.
