Have watched the end of the series.
I'm disgusted. I'm not even upset the tearful way, it's just pissed me off too much.
That's their ending? There was no twist and no cleverness. It was obvious from the first that the ghost was Eve grown up, at least obvious to the SF group. There was room to be clever right up until the last moment. Eve had to be dead to save them? Well she already was! Her actions as a ghost save the world just by putting Hal in the right place, which domino alters the future-past when he and that ghost I still don't remember the name of were in place to save the werewolf guy from eating people, and their friendship is his anchor when he decides to hold on to his humanity. Baby saves the world, and friendship saves the world. It even involves a really big kaboom at the end. Let Annie be the one to pull the trigger, why not? She doesn't have to be physically present to do it. The clever way to do it is to walk away with the baby and then jedi the switch. FFS, it was sitting there set up precisely to do that, ghost tricks fully demonstrated, ending earned. Why the hell did they not do it that way?

Why the fuck kill the baby? Then it ceases to be clever, meaningful, or helpful. The only thing that happens is Annie decides to be the monster. There's freaky overtones of evil mother making the baby stay baby forever and deciding it's more important to stay together than live. Because hey, look, they're together in the afterlife now.
And after that she gets a happy ending?
When she's standing there surrounded by fire I fully expected her to step through that door into more of the same.

She killed a baby. That's evil. I don't care if she saved the world, she didn't have to do it that way, even within the room and the rules of the 'verse at that precise moment. It wasn't a necessary evil, it was just evil.

So what is the moral message of that last minute? Wait, it wasn't the last minute, they kept on with setting up the next season instead. And what was that about? It made the death of the old ones and the baby seem sort of perfunctory. Oh, that happened, next. Surely that kind of moment is the thing end credits are made for? But no, moving on.

So, what is the moral message of setting the three heroes up as somewhat incompetent suicide bombers?
This is the answer now?

If Hal's presence is the key to saving both humanity and the baby then friendship is redemptive and all things are possible, even for addicts and other monsters.

But if the only thing they can do is kill children, what the hell is the message?

Also, something messed up happened with race.
Aside from getting rid of a black woman and replacing her with a white woman.
There was scary black man the evil werewolf. And there was making Annie evil. Plus a lot more ethnic minority faces among the Old Ones than I can recall all season.

I know I keep going on about counting. But the harder the show swings back to its initial setup, two men one woman, the more annoying it gets. They just swapped out the entire cast, they couldn't make there be two women around? Baby Eve and Ghost Eve counted kind of, but she didn't exactly interact much. And then she was dead. And count the dead women. Ghosts? Women. Horrible murders to inspire angst in men? Women. Fridge someone's girlfriend, wife, date, whatever. All this season, all male vampires, all violent, and where were the women? Being dead. There's something really messed up there.

This isn't my most coherent rant.

Right up until the last moment when Annie set off the bomb, they could have done something great.
Instead they did something bloody stupid. Baby Eve is dead of stupid. And all the women are dead.
Apparently they're more interesting that way.
