Actual progress!

beccaelizabethI have achieved 1100 words precisely of creative 'Life writing' suitable for handing in a month from now.
Now I just need to write the 550 word critical commentary and I'm set.
... of course I can do the creative writing bit in my sleep, and frequently have, though that doesn't help much come hand it in time. The crit comment is supposed to demonstrate the breadth of our study on the topic, which would be considerable easier if I had in fact been studying.
Crit starts along the lines of:
Some days, any way of writing would be a lie. The subjective experience cannot be conveyed by the recitation of objective facts. Apparent clarity would lack cause, consequence, and context. The same facts described to a different reader would not create the same impression. Either factual or emotional accuracy is possible; either a report of physical reality or a story that creates the same shiver in the reader as the writer. So some days I read and write genre fiction because that's as close to reality as I want to get; other days it's the closest to explaining my reality.
... after that it needs to have quotes and theory and generally prove I've read what has been posted on Blackboard and handed out in class. Which, again, would be easier if true.
I've really got to make it to lessons next week. Also do some reading. And understand it. And retain it. And pull interesting bits out to make up the other 400 odd words for the assignment.
*gets bleak blank distance stare*

That's totally got to be helpful at least a little bit.
... if I end up handing this version in. Mum thinks I ought to write something neutral about school instead. I think it don't much matter what the teacher thinks of me after reading the thing, I'm done after this year anyway, so I may as well write about zombies if I want.
Not that mentioning zombies has historically been a path to grading greatness, but *shrugs*.
