beccaelizabethI dreamed that Joey from Friends was a knife happy serial killer, and that the autistic guy from Alphas was his kid that he'd never bothered to get to know. Cameron from The Sarah Connor Chronicles asked Gary out on a date, and I chaperoned. The date went well. They thought they had a lot in common, like not understanding humans and being diagnosed as autistic spectrum, and they agreed to meet again later. Then while they were leaving his dad grabbed him. Which seemed like a really big problem, so I followed, sneakily.
Given my usual success at stealth, he caught me immediately. He made us both put on uniforms and explained that today was one of the days humans fought demons in a 'game' which was only different from open warfare in that innocent bystanders were never supposed to know about it. The Alphas guy thought that was seriously crazy. I knew he'd just been on a date with a Terminator, so possibly possible wasn't where he thought it was. Then the demons landed like meteors and attacked us.
Because we were in uniform they thought we were playing, hence tried to kill us, so the Alphas guy just stripped. Demons cried foul because desertion wasn't allowed, but we pointed out we'd never signed up in the first place, and not having signed anything meant demons couldn't touch us. It did not, however, protect us from the knife wielding serial killer who fully intended us to join his little war. I protected his kid, but that got seriously painful. Then Cameron caught up with us.
Seriously painful for the serial killer.
So he was all, wait! Demons! Demons are a worse problem! And Cameron didn't believe in demons, not having seen them arrive. Demons were fed up of not being believed in, and also of rules, and being attacked by people that were supposed to be out of bounds. So they pulled off their human suits (probably sourced from previous opponents). It was messy. They declared the rules so thoroughly broken they could now do what they like: having been attacked by innocent humans, they could attack them right back.
So Cameron asked, are weapons allowed in this conflict? And all parties waved pointy bits of metal around and rolled their eyes. So she pointed out, she's not a human, innocent or otherwise, she's a weapon. Now it was the demons' turn to not believe her. So she pulled part of her human suit off. The demons were still all pshaw, prostheses! So she played a holographic message from Keanu Reeves explaining the machines conquered the Earth in the future and the only way to save mankind was to send weapons back into the past. ... no I don't know where holographic Keanu Reeves was from, my brain is a weird, weird place. I'd say The Matrix, but the actions were not consistent.
ANYway, given the increasing evidence, and Cameron's offer to pull her face off if they really needed to see it, the demons conceded that she was not in fact an innocent human. And also that possibly this future war with the machines was a problem for demons too, since machines would be no fun at all. Not to mention Cameron was seriously kicking their arses. They withdrew from Earth to take this new intelligence home and discuss it.

... except the guy from Alphas had just seen his new girlfriend peel herself and was seriously freaking out. He ran away, and I followed him.
Behind me I heard the demons arguing about if they got to take the knife killer back with them, because on the one hand they hadn't technically beaten him, but on the other after tangling with Cameron he was seriously very beaten. This being the usual conclusion to a fight explained a lot about who got chosen to represent mankind in said conflicts. Odds were that guy was going to end up in the fire either way, so small risk, and possibility of redemption if he starts doing it to protect others rather than because of the whole thing where he gets to kill a lot of people shaped beings.
Autistic Alphas Gary was curled up rocking under a bridge, having a very bad day. He'd started out thinking he had so much in common with this girl, and then she's a robot inside, a killer robot, and he doesn't want to be a robot or a killer, and then if he grows up like his dad he'll be a killer too, and he was just completely freaked. So I tried to assure him that neither biology nor free will worked that way, but it was all uphill. He's got that reading signals thing, how does he know he's not a robot already? Total freak out.
And Cameron was there, and wanted to know if they were still going on that other date, which suggestion was not well received. It is possible she was sad, but then again it was always possible she wasn't feeling feelings. Which had been a lot less worrying before he knew she was a robot. If she was just autistic spectrum and bad at feelings he could still know she was dating him because feelings, but if she's a killer robot from the future how does he know she's not just trying to recruit him? He'd be a great recruit.
So he had a really not good day, and I had no good answers, but on the plus side I did have new clothes for him that weren't any kind of uniform for anyone. Any day is slightly improved by fixing the public nudity problem.
So now I'm wondering how the different end of the world scenarios would interact. On the one hand, machines probably don't have to worry about going to hell. On the other, demons probably don't have to worry about nukes. Probably they wipe out humans as a side effect of trying to stop each other. Well, also a bonus effect. Probably not good for us either way.
