Blergh. Quickenings.
Dec. 30th, 2012 04:54 pmI had a night of epic dreams again. Long complicated winding chains of cause and effect as I drifted in and out of different personas. At one point it was all about ghosts and involved both the changing rooms and tunnel from boarding school. At another it was that one where all your teeth crumble and fall out, only that was a side effect of the weapons being used in the alien invasion of China, and some of us developed superpowers instead of just dying. Being superpowered and in dire need of a dentist is not much of an improvement on just needing a dentist. And then the dentist had weird machines and a gag and that was not going to end well. But then it was about trying to steal the materials for super powered babies, and that segued neatly into being about Immortals trying to have babies, Highlander dreams, but with a woman who had spent most of her life on trying to make sure her kid would live forever and had become somewhat bitter that her chosen Immortals wouldn't share. The idea that they'd been telling the truth all along would have meant admitting she'd wasted her whole life so she wasn't about to do that. Instead she brought a big large crate to Connor's antique store, said it was an antique bed. He brought it up to his place and it turned out to be nine Immortals in a box. Nine. Who all wanted him dead. So then me and Duncan charged in and there was fighting and trying to put people out of the fight without starting a Quickening but there were a lot of Quickenings and everyone was getting jittery and fried and we'd lost track of Connor. And then the second wave of people arrived.
So now I feel like I rather need to go get some sleep.
In other news: Woke up to find the con disco theme at Redemption is "Creatures of the Night"
I have been reading too many GURPS books, because my first thought was to get the cover of GURPS Creatures of the Night on a t-shirt and call it done.
I read a lot of GURPS books. And re-read them again later. And make stuff up based on them.
It's kind of like fandom where the shared source text is a rule book.
Actually there's sample characters in there too. I wonder if anyone does fic for them, or if that would be too much like just writing up a campaign? (It rarely works to write up a campaign. Different narrative techniques apply, different pacing, different ways to keep people involved. Considerable adaptation is required between media.) (Though there's some fairly famous fantasy books that have obviously done just that.)
Nope, today just does not appeal, I'm going back to sleep.
