13th Warrior
Jul. 2nd, 2005 02:11 pmRewatched 13th Warrior today
I was in a homicidal mood so it seemed to fit
Now I'm feeling all uplifted and heroic and stuff instead of randomly grumbly
so, cool
VK was right, it would have been better with the other 'Mother' at the end. I mean as it stands it doesn't entirely make sense to assume that woman *is* the mother. She could have been some kind of bodyguard chick. She needed to look just like the statues, for the statues to be the build up to a big reveal of monstrous her.
Everything else about that film - camera stuff, editing, story focus, how Ibn develops, *every* part of that film, I absolutely love. And I stand by the opinion that VK's decision to keep his character's eyes open in death was more than just actor vanity, it was the perfect decision for that man in that moment. Meet it head on and see them off.
I'm taking a break now just because I don't want to watch anything not as good as that film so I'm, like, letting it settle before I watch anything else.
I love this film.
Heroes.
