Suitcase: packed
Feb. 20th, 2013 02:36 pmI'm going to call the suitcase packed. This involved counting in as much underwear as I'll need all weekend and then the same again, adding t-shirts sufficient to wear one new every day, throwing in two different outfits for dancing in, adding two pairs of nice trousers, making sure I have pyjamas, and adding two jackets of shiny or swish. Add to that whatever I packed last time by way of jewelry, velvet slippers, and corsets, and I have a convention weekend in a bag.
Now I am sitting down until I cease to be dizzy and out of breath.
I may be doing substantially less dancing this weekend than some previous.
Apparently not leaving the house means not leaving my armchair, which has generally unhelpful knock on effects.
Next I need to pack my backpack, which will have books to read and notepads to write in and pens to write with, and possibly the netbook computer, I haven't decided yet. I don't think I've tried turning that on for months actually, it was meant for taking to college and I finished all the lessons. On the one hand, is unlikely I'll need to surf the internet. On the other, typing is better notes than handwriting. Shall decide later.
I could charge up my headphones and put stories on them. Has been a while since I listened stories. I keep getting new ones from Big Finish but I haven't even downloaded them for a few months because I haven't finished listening what I've got. It's the thing where I always should be doing my dissertation instead of any other thing I'm actually doing.
Also I need to pack the food and drink. Except I mostly didn't buy that. Also toothbrush, mouthwash, and soap I am not allergic to. Possibly shampoo and conditioner. Shall see. All those go in the rainbow bag.
I have done this going to conventions thing a lot. There's less thinking and more doing the same thing over again now.
If I had time for costumes it would be different but, sadly, no. Maybe I'll do chaos things while I'm there.
I think going to Coventry on public transport involves going through London and that means walking the bit between the underground and London Euston and that means dragging my suitcase all up and down stairs and... *big sigh of tired*.
According to google it is 3 hours in a car.
according to the travel planner it's 5 hours going by public transport. It has several rather implausible routes, but they're all about 5 hours.
oh dear, and now I'm near to tearful about the whole going places thing. I haven't been managing go to college, now I'm going to Coventry?
Right. I've done this before. I've done this going to Glasgow when I was so ill I didn't very much manage to leave my hotel room once I got to the con. This is entirely doable and I have done this exact journey twice before and I can do it again.
... and I will start believing that any minute now...
