beccaelizabethAm on the third and last book of a trilogy
which has just degenerated into some really viciously nasty and inventive torture scenes
for no readily apparent reason
I mean the character is meant to be buying time, he has been told to
but the author hasn't established that the time needs to be bought
there are four characters in danger
but previously demonstrated powers should be more than adequate to rescue them
and kill the two in charge
but apparently 'that wouldn't buy 72 hours'
er, in what sense would it not?
Cut off the generals and the armies are unlikely to go from sporadic incursions to generalised attack overnight
besides which the armies in question havent been established
nor have they told how they're supposed to be getting in in the first place
since there are only 13 Gates that they could be walking through
and excuse me, but how difficult is it to defend or even plain block 13 Gates? Specially since they have been described as about person sized, not company sized. You can hold a doorway for damn near forever, with enough reinforcements. Plus the setting has forcefields that have previously been said to hold for about a week.
The author just hasnt set up the need for this shit, which makes it gratuitously nasty. I don't see the plan being necessary or working. So I'm reading this and just getting really really bored.
