I am listening to the 'Triffids' thing on BBC 4 Extra, sort of on accident in between recording things off the recorder box onto DVDs. It's very upsetting. The idea is very nearly everyone in the world woke up blind. The story then thinks the logical outcome is entire families killing themselves.
the layers of assumption that make that seem like a plausible outcome
very upsetting.
there's a lot of stupid.
Radio is annoying because the stories are all old old old, and stuffed full of garbage in terms of gender roles etc etc. I don't know why they do that, but I haven't heard anything actually recent except the Doctor Who audios. I love Doctor Who audios, but I already own them, so I only sometimes listen to them on the radio.
There was also Neverwhere but when I opened the page it said I had a year left to listen to it and then when I went back it said I needed to have listened to it last week. So that didn't work out so much.
I guess there's newer stuff in the comedy and drama threads, but the science fiction and horror are all the kind of 'classic' that thinks the 1970s are quite a lot recent really.
Is not good.
