Doctor Who spoilers go under the cut.
Okay, so, I know the Doctor has previously been someone who played another character before.
But seriously? With these associations?
Are they just relying on children not having watched Children of Earth and the rest of us being able to ignore it?
Because nothing against the actor, but my response to his CoE character is visceral revulsion.
(actually that's like credit to the actor for selling the disgusting bastard)
(just in a way I wouldn't say to his face)
Plus now I'm just imagining Captain Jack Harkness coming face to face with 12.
Epically creeped out?
I know the guy can act, he's been in tons of things, not that I watch much, and maybe the DW people just reckon it's like every other role he's played and not relevant to DW.
... except it was, you know, part of the same universe as DW.
... much as I've been trying to repress since then.
So I have all these problems with the idea, and I guess I'm glad they announce it so far in advance, because this is going to take quite a lot of work to ignore.
I'm not knocking the actor, I'm just saying, connotations are epic nasty.
Also, separately, do we really need another white man? No we do not.
Bored with the white male casting here.

I'll reserve judgement until I see him in action, but right now, I'm not really looking forward to next season.
