What I did on my birthday, by beccaelizabeth, age 36

After a slow start to the morning mum and I went to Norwich on the 8 bus with what I thought was plenty of time before the movie we were going to see. Then I attempted to copy my City College files, and it told me I needed to have Admin permissions to do so. This baffled the librarian and two tech support people. So we ended up waiting while the tech guy logged in as someone with a lot more permissions and copied all my files for me.

... I hope. I haven't checked they work at home yet. They should do though.
And it should all be stuff I've got other places already, I just thought that, since I could just pop in and buy a memory stick, I didn't have to rely on 'should'.
So then we went to catch the bus between college and the castle where the cinema is, and watched it sail past before we could get to the stop. We got to the stop before the time printed on the stop, so I think the bus is imprecise. The next bus didn't go to the same place but did get to the center of town, so we went up near John Lewis and went for a wander.
I saw Iron Ape again :-)

By then it was past 1pm and mum kept wanting to stop for food. I said there was food at Waterstones cafe but she kept looking in other places and reading bits of menu out. But I wasn't in a food mood today, let alone new food.

At Waterstones I got 5 books, ordered 3 more (and need to find another source for a 4th), and got a £10 gift card from filling up the stamp card. Happy birthday to me :-) ...I could have used it right away but I wanted to carry it around for a bit like a present.

We went to their cafe and mum had some cake and tea. And more cake. And looked at a book of Steampunk crafts.

next I wasn't sure I wanted the day to have more day in it. Also we weren't watching the film after all. But we wandered to Head in the Clouds to dig through the discount box. I did tell mum that was what I wanted to do, but she still stood and looked grumpy about it. It's like a dress up box! That magically has different stuff in every time you look! And, okay, absolutely none of it was in the combination pretty, my size, and nice texture, but you never know until you look. And I like the process of looking.
mum was bored though. she sorts clothes for a charity shop so it was more like work for her.

There was more wandering and then we went to Beaujangles, where I got another compact of white face powder, and also two pairs of clip on earrings, all for about £10. Shiny! They had a lot of things I wouldn't wear but will happily stare at too. We'd stopped to stare at the shiny in a lot of jewellers, but I'm just as happy looking at the sparkly £2 things as the sparkly £39000 thing we also saw. Actually that one didn't look very good, it was so gigantic it looked fake anyway.

We went to the Rock Collection and I showed mum some awesome shoes and boots, very few of which I have a hope of being able to walk in. The ones with skull butterflies are especially awesome though.

After that I needed a sit down again so I parked on the first bench we arrived at. Mum went to look at Rainbow Wholefoods and was not impressed. I like it plenty, many things I can eat, very good for me. There is not a new restaurant where Pulse was though. No vegan pizza :-( I want to start a vegan pizza place. I have none of the requisite skills and I'm sure it would lose money but I could actually eat there. It would be awesome. Briefly.

from there we were almost to the TV and Movie Store, so I stopped in there, but I realised I haven't been keeping my List Of Doctor Who To Buy up to date and the ones I was certain I needed were not there anyways. So I shall have another go later. Probably when I bring a bigger bag. Also mum talked me out of buying more sonic screwdriver. It said it was compatible with the build your own sonic screwdriver set yet they did not appear to have the set. And neither do I cause mum talked me out of buying it before. But, so shiny!

Then I went and sat in the library while mum tried to make her phone cooperate. She lost me, even though I was sat next to the entrance door wearing a rainbow hat, carrying a rainbow bag, and with a general rainbow theme going on. So I was sat there for a bunch of minutes. But that turned out to be good, because the one guy in Norwich who is likely to randomly chat with me stopped in to put his books back, and said happy birthday and did chat. So that was nice.

Then we went through chapelfield mall on the way to the bus station and mum bought me a cookie. It is a double choc chip cookie of a sort I really like. I like it better than birthday cake today. I ate it when I got home and because it's a hot day it stayed all soft and melty. Cookie :-)

... mum did not seem convinced that buying me the cookie I wanted was a proper birthday type thing. but it's better, because it's what I asked for.

I got three birthday cards from relatives, including mum, and mum bought me a care bear with a rainbow tummy. Pink bear with rainbows! Actually she was convinced I would hate it (which is puzzling, why buy it?) but it makes me :-) It seems to be a tiny backpack maybe? But, rainbow! It's nice.

So that and a lot of wandering around Norwich was a very good birthday.

Now I shall try and figure out how to make food levitate to me so I don't have to get up on my feets that have done all that walking. Or possibly I'll decide a birthday cookie is enough to be going on with. ;-)
