is kind of annoying
the subtitles are *crappy*
they skip more than they say
and they keep changing the words just to be shorter
very annoying.
Also, I'd forgotten it was a Joel Schumacher film
the guy that screwed up Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
The visual similarities are striking, and include all the aspects of style that most irritated me
so I keep getting distracted from the story by the craft
to the point where I'm now figuring in my head how *I* would have shot it instead.

Some of it would almost work for me if I wasn't so annoyed with the same tricks in other films, I think. The gold light / blue light thing would work if it were even slightly subtle. I love a lot of the shapes of the backgrounds, arches and corridors used to good effect. I just... there are parts where it is really whacking you over the head. Like when there is wall art of big demon heads when the thing starts to get creepy. I think the creepiness could have worked with a completely plain backdrop, in fact worked better. But no, we get dayglo demons. stuff like that is what annoys me about this guy.
What I love about Flatliners is it is basically a ghost story, about the things you carry with you. Exactly the stuff most interesting to me at the moment.
