Dreamed I was stuck in a 3 hour groundhog day with Lindsey McDonald from Angel and, I think, Ruby from Once Upon a Time. There was a whole town of about ten thousand people about to get destroyed somehow, and we started out trying to get out of town. There was a plane, all three of us caught it, seemed like a win. But then the loop restarted. Running and saving ourselves wasn't going to be enough. So we had to somehow figure out what the three of us could do to change the large scale outcome.
A lawyer, a waitress, and a... me, somehow are key to averting the destruction of a whole town. And they don't know how.
That would be a good story.
It was however an exhausting night's sleep and I think I slept like 12 hours.
Lindsey was handing out ticket money to get the most possible people on the plane in the first iteration of the loop I was aware of. He'd looped before, he caught on faster. But that wasn't sufficient to actually escape. Neither of us was aware of the actual first loop, and it took us a while of Lindsey and me trying this that and t'other to figure out the actual centre of the loop was Ruby. She still reckoned she had no idea how or why.
See if it was Lindsey it would be a learn something loop about sacrifice and not actually being a bad guy.
But if it's Ruby I reckon the learn something is about power, and how it's okay to have and use it.
I don't know what my loop would be. Maybe that I'm not the audience and real life is not ruled by tropes.
And if it isn't about any of us, if it's more like SG1 where there's a machine making the loop and we have to track someone down, then I know how that story goes, cause it would be about someone trying the actual Groundhog Day movie storyline but aiming to 'get' Ruby, thus missing the point of actual Groundhog Day. Having the town being destroyed as a side effect highlights the creepy. But I don't think I like that version cause it seems like the story treats Ruby wrong too. Unless the point there is the power thing at the creepy guy. Or even if? I don't know.
But then Lindsey and I wouldn't belong in that story at all, which, obviously, as the point of view character, I find weird.
And it wasn't that Lindsey was trying to pull with a looped day, he was trying to get the town evacuated, he was not concentrating on romance.
... maybe it was me, and I'd forgot...
