There was a lot in that ep that could be interesting. But the recap and the start reminded me of how I felt at the end of the previous episode, and I just don't see why I should get over that.
Someone looked at the cast of Agents of SHIELD and thought, 'you know what we need? another white guy!'
and to get him they lined up a more diverse group and killed them around him.
That kind of thought process all over a show I was looking forward to? Kills any remaining enjoyment I had.
I am bored. I am angry and I am bored. This is not a good combination.
... and yet after a couple years of reading/watching Phil Coulson, I ended up watching this week despite deciding not to.
I do kind of tentatively like what they're doing with Fitz and the new guy of colour. I did not like how everyone was treating Fitz, but the new guy is making it clear that how they were acting was not cool, and now he's helpful and it's better. Like I said/meant last week, people with disabilities that impair communication sometimes need a person to help, but communication isn't the only kind of intelligence. So there could be okay to good things going on there.
I like May. Skye is being all grrrr tough and grumpy, but insightful still, so that could be okay. Trip basically just got shot in the back by the new guy. All three of them did, and he shouldn't have been able to do that, since his skillz shouldn't be that leet without the white guy plot favourite upgrade. So the bits I liked had the bit I really don't like all over them.
And then there's the thing where I disagree with the politics now they're all vigilantes out to show up the regular authorities. Democracy and oversight are good things, you know?
The stuff I like is not sufficient reason to stick around though. Because that season opener pretty much promises they're going to burn it all and expect us to like it.
