Like, usually in slash it's going to be someone who is just so meeeeeean to our guys because they don't understaaaaaand, or maybe they're jealous, or maybe it's the canon pairing's other half being all unreasonable about the sudden warping of the universe that leaves them alone and apparently never wanted.

Or perhaps it's some kind of hierarchy problem, where everyone decides they are the boss, despite canon being actually quite clear on the matter of who actually is and how the others will respond to this kind of disagreement.

Whatever it is, someone is, of a sudden, massively out of character, with no motivation, not acting like proper humans, for the sole purpose of the story having some kind of antagonistic element.

If you can't make your story interesting without making one of the regulars stand there all frown face at your pretties, your story has bigger problems.

It's especially galling when the antagonism reaches the point of mutiny and/or attempted murder. People don't tend to get to those from a standing start. And they at least need a reason.

Just suddenly taking against someone is not a reason.
