Excellent Sunday
Jan. 4th, 2015 06:34 pmToday was a bit not working to start with, cause I phoned mum at 12ish to check the 2pm plan was on, and at 2.10pm she phoned back to say oops she was not ready. So we missed the actual breakfast part because of getting there late. Also sibling did not want to eat at the supermarket today, which is fair enough. So we just went round and did shoppings and came home again.
But then me and sibling watched The Empire Strikes Back and he ate the usual Sunday food only prepared in the microwave here instead. And then he put bits of it in the paper bin in the living room, but mum just fixed that by taking it out to the correct bins. But anyway, food was ate, movie was watched, fun was had. And it's nearly 7pm and the plan started at 2 and the actual doing at 3. So that's very plenty social that is.
And now I am tired but I forgot to fix me any food so I'm a meal behind. I'll have melty cheese sandwich in a minute cause I have nice fresh Sunday foods. This works very well.
The Empire Strikes Back is most excellent, but I watch it with my 5 year old brain in, especially with my brother here. We quote the best bits along with them and laugh at the faces they make and the beep noises and so forth. Best movie is best.
If I put my other brain back in I'd have to notice how there's just barely two women in it, though I think technically one mentions to the other something the sensors are saying? But Leia is best and spaceships are best and so movie is best.
It has been aaaaaaaaages since I saw it. I got the editions that have the original theatrical (ie proper) version as the bonus disc and the remastered one as the new movie, back when they were new, but I apparently did not so much as unwrap them, so the plastic only came off today. I guess I watch them in my head a lot? The good bits version is good. I've probably seen them on TV more than sat down and decided to watch? Or maybe I just really memorised them when much younger and didn't feel the need.
If I was making a space adventure movie it would have ships and whoosh and boom and more women. And also Han Solo. It is hard to improve on him.

Date: 2015-01-04 08:20 pm (UTC)I wonder what happened to their mother in the universe where things make any sense at all? She’d have to fake her death of course, because her ex has turned into a crazed child killer and here she is with two children, but I’m sure she becomes a pillar of the rebellion.
I also want to hear about lady jedi and rebel pilots and all the rest. I hear the Extended Universe can provide, but haven’t really poked around in there. Last time I bought any of them was with the F&SF book club, probably in the 90s.
