At the Dead Dog Party at the end of Red 15 I went around with a big sheet of paper asking everyone

What Was The Best Bit

... mostly I learned that people at the Dead Dog are up to 'I love everyone in this bar' so the usual first vote for best bit was 'All of it!' or 'All the people'. Which is cool.

But I'll type up the whole list under the cut:

Alice Balloon Debate
Man of Iron!
Fencing + Conrad Veidt tied
Starship Cool Wall
Contrad Veidt & Slash Pictionary
My Talk [I think that was the physics one? That was good.]
Blatent Vote Rigging (-:
All of It
Ration Roulette
The multiple dilemmas over which programme item to attend!
When the Programme Books I had ordered finally arrived! [Ops]
The Build-Your-Own Power Armour Workshop
Men in kilts, and Joker costumes
Panels [and a whole sentence in handwriting I could not decipher, sorry]
Oswin & the panels I was on
That people like Steve K will give up their time to teach idiots like me how to use a bullwhip. Great!
Meeting the usual suspects again. Meeting unusual suspects.
Tribble Hunt
Chocolate tasting, Blakes 7 drinking game + fun in PINE!
Walking on stilts
The interesting conversations with good company.
Making a bullwhip and the Dead Dogs Party
Good friends, good beer, ALL OF IT!!!
Saturday Night Disco
ME NOT DYING (no thanks to Riario!) L.D.V.
All of it!
Oswin's Hustings
The whole convention. Lesley does the best conventions. It's like cons from 30 years ago.

All the attendees. Love you all Lesley/Londo/Girolamo

Playing the slithy toves game - all con long!
Cabaret
Bad B7 Fiction
Bad B7 Fiction + Wacky Races
Poisoning people as Lucretzia Borgia
Ceilidh.
The entier Con - all excellent!

Why me of course - THE JOKER!!!

/list

My vote? Being interactive all weekend. Workshops and costumes and panels.
I like that there's so much to do you have to choose between things and then want a TARDIS to go choose the other things as well.
And yes, all the people. Because everyone is playing, and it's grand.

Moderating my first two Panels (The Prisoner and Economics in SF) both of which seemed to go pretty well as I had people coming up to me afterwards saying that they'd really enjoyed them.

Not quite so great was when my Realism in BDSM item was scheduled against the Ruler of the Universe Hustings, meaning it started with myself and a Gopher... :-( (A couple more people came in later, including one confused lady who had turned up early for the next item!)

Really great was the fun I had with two people who shall remain nameless, but if you saw someone having trouble sitting comfortably on the Saturday morning... ;-)

I would've come to your BDSM thingy if I hadn't been busy elsewhere, dammit. Hope the scheduling will be more sensible in '17 because I too did the sort of stuff that I imagined would get more attendees as well (a queer genre movie legend who pwned the Nazis *and* was the submissive woman's erotic nightmare come true in the talkies and five people show up?!?), but it was all scheduled against something big and popular. (And you do deserve some sort of medal for being the con's official spanker-of-exhausted-and-neurotic-participants-into-their-senses.)

I also spent quite some time fretting about making an arse of myself before showing up to a panel to discover that we (panel) were outnumbered by audience.

What we both had, though, was the select audiences, the ones who went to ours despite all the other draws. Yes. *nods firmly*

(con reports over at my LJ - was using a different name on my badge, which I don't use online - msg me if you want it - but I am the one who accosted you at registration and *ahem* promised faithfully to come to your talk and then didn't; we were also opposite each other on the Thursday night meal, and crossed paths other times too.)

(ETA: also, hello, beccaelizabeth - must have missed you asking at the Dead Dog, hope you don't mind random visitors to your LJ!)

I'm glad some people appreciated the Conrad Veidt stuff, even if so few showed up--but the few who did were awesome. We'll see about showing Thief of Bagdad properly at '17 so people can actually see it and everything.
