My characters just wandered into the armoury to have a chat.
I know, like, three guns. If that. If they haven't used it on SG1, I do not know it.
I actually know a little more about bows, but not a whole hell of a lot.
And unlike the doohickeys on the thingamabobs that Stark whatsits up, they're real things that are relatively easy to know about, if you know enough to start knowing things.
So here I am googling a page of sniper rifles of the mid 90s. and I know I'll still get it wrong...
... and SHIELD is supposed to have the best guns anyway, so all I'm looking this stuff up for is comparators, so someone can wander in looking for X and be told SHIELD invented X+1 or whatever.
Though I'm sure there'd be people with a preference anyway, not everyone wants to be the first to play with R&D's toys...
All I care about is the part where they sit next to each other and don't say word one about Last Night and just do their jobs like professionals and are colder than the weather outside. It's just the doing their jobs part uses specialised vocabulary, so, I know I'm going to screw it up.
My fix at the moment is to make the not-actually-omniscient narrator kind of vague, but then, dialogue.
Ugh.
