Jun. 16th, 2015 08:04 pmAm reading Rivers of London, hopefully and at this rate very probably before taking it back tomorrow evening. It's very good so far. The bloke point of view is not my preference, and the violence is a bit more extreme than I wanted in a couple places, but aside from that, is good.
The fancasts I've seen on tumblr help too because my head is full of pretty people even before I start reading.
Yesterday's book I could not concentrate on cause it kept on getting overridden by my latest bunny, which combines the system of magic that's been filling my brain, basically pagan gods vs dead human pyramid selling demons, with the plot of Captain America: The First Avenger.
The problem is the magic layer doesn't really add much, so I wouldn't exactly want to write an AU like that, I don't think it illuminates the characters any extra interesting. But filing the serial numbers off would take a lot of extra doing compared to the thing currently in my head.
The other problem is I had started writing something entirely different with dragons. Dragons are good.
I think the planning phase is always more fun than actually trying to sit down every day and write. Especially at this desk in this chair.
Bunny is more interesting than yesterday's reading and less interesting than today's. Shall see.
