Jun. 17th, 2015 07:18 pmI went outside and everything was further away
... I went to the optician to pick up my new glasses. I think I like them. I like the way they look so far, and far away things are indeed easier to see even well enough to read.
I am not currently convinced about computer screens, but I haven't had this computer screen set so it makes me happy since I plugged it in.
I still have the old glasses anyway, if I get annoyed enough.
It's cool realising that it is in fact possible to read those displays way over there but it's not cool realising that at some point in the last couple of years the world got smaller and you didn't notice.
I went to the book shop and checked on the progress of book I ordered. It now says it'll be out in August? That's... a long time after it first said. Okay then.
I also pre-ordered the last Terry Pratchett book ( :-( ) because it's £10 pre order and £20 when it comes out and there's zero chance I won't buy it. and I picked up the latest Baxter & Pratchett, which is presumably also the last.
... I went out fully intending to only use the library, and then...
:eyeroll:
Put book back in library, got next in series out. Checked on that one book in that one series where the one book is ALways out. It's in in Taverham, apparently. I am not in Taverham. And I'm never bothered enough to actually reserve the thing so it'd turn up next time someone returned it. I probably will eventually but obviously playing hide and seek with it is more fun.
Bought a drink at the cafe at the Forum. It was more than a pound for a fruit shoot. This feels unreasonable, since it's £2 for 8 of them at ASDA. Also I do not really like it. Also it says apple & blackcurrant in big letters but in small letters also says plum, which irritates me because it feels like it's hiding the ingredients, even though they're right there same as usual.
That's actually the first time I've used that cafe because it doesn't sell Ribena and also isn't somewhere I've used before so new things trickier. Now if I don't use it it'll only be because moneys.
Went to the AS social group. I feel like I do all the talking and I talk boring things. But I try doing listening too and people listen and ask questions so probably not boring.
I warned someone about Birmingham New Street. They were thinking it's kind of like Norwich. No, no, not like Norwich, Norwich is sized for humans and kind of sensibly organised, and you can see it all at once. Birmingham New Street has, according to wiki, 13 platforms, all with an a and b and one of them with a c. That's 27 places your train could be. And the place it's meant to be has probably changed in the last ten minutes.
... I hope I haven't just scared them of train stations, but they said they'd look it up in advance, which I feel is a good plan. I really can't be having with that place.
Got bread at the Sainsburys next to the bus station and caught the 8 bus right back to my place.
Successful expedition, that is.
now I will sit quietly and hope my head gets quiet in time to sleep tonight.
