Went to Norwich Pride 2015 :-)

I walked in the parade. It was a bit stop start. Also the start seemed to be in two places and the music and banners and stuff seemed to start in the middle, quite a long way behind me.
Then we got to nearly the Forum and everyone had to stop because someone at the Forum had a heart attack and needed the ambulance to get through and so forth. So that was a bit not good.
But then the parade kept going after the ambulance went away.
I started teh day by texting mum to see if she was going like we'd half arranged, because picnic. But then that turned into a two hour conversation where mum explained she's been visiting Grandpa who is probably dying this time. Except possibly not. They keep thinking he is and then he's not. He's back in hospital as of this morning. I hope he gets well. I also hope my relatives that look after him are okays. Lots of difficult. So between that and my sibling returning around lunch time and not being a fan of picnics or rain, no mum this year.
There was pretty much no rain, at least by the time I got out the house. I took my umbrella but it turned out more useful to keep teh sun off. It is rainbows so it is thematically appropriate.
Rainbow socks, t-shirt, cardigan, pride whistle on a lanyard, bag, hat - not my usual rainbows hat, the wind kept trying to steal it, so I swapped it for my indoors hat which is more streamlined - and rainbow umbrella on top. Also rainbow bracelets, one with weaving and one with beads and two with dice, and the new thing I bought today that is like prayer beads with a tassle only all rainbows. That approaches maximum rainbow.
The picnic bit was nice but the empty bench I found was next to the Socialist Worker stall. So the music accompanied very earnest explanations of why we need a revolution. Which kind of explains the empty bench?
There were many and varied people. For a while I was sitting behind a group who all had like fox tails. Then there were two people in fur dragon suits. In July. When it was predicted to rain. And with the wind. So they're putting a lot of effort in there. Also there were people in splendid dresses and very tall shoes and hair that went up several feet and sparkle gems on their face and much contour makeup. And lots of people with Marvel t-shirts like Avengers, and some with DC t-shirts like Wonder Woman. And many many many people wearing flags. Lots of many and varied people all everywhere.
And then there was the parade, and it's Norwich so it's kind of... low key? There's people walking, there's people trying to shop, there's people nipping through the parade on the way to try and shop. Some people seemed undecided on if they were joined in or not, usually with lots of grinning. And then there's a half dozen very splendid drag queens rushing to catch up in the middle cause they're late but clearly they got all pretty so parade they shall. And a bit later there's a couple of very old gents, white hair old, and one drawing the other in to join the parade. And there was tiny child riding on someone's shoulders, and they seemed enthusiastic about all the rainbows and even still having fun while everyone is waiting in a big crowd. But it's mostly just people walking, and a few rainbow flags, and some rainbow umbrellas. It's cool.
We got up to the Forum finally, and there's the music bit and some people heading back to the park and big crowds around, but I folded the umbrella as soon as we got somewhere sheltered enough the wind wasn't trying to takes it away (it tried quite hard several times), and then I went in to the TV&Movie store to buy my shiny for having done all that interaction stuff. So now I have an Avengers t-shirt with a big A on it. :-)
I missed the bus home by about twenty feet, which is always frustrating, so I had to wait twenty minutes for the next one, but that one goes all the way to my house, so that's cool.
And now I'm home.
Much rainbows, many humans. :-)
