Today has been slow.
On the plus side, the netbook finally finished auto update, and I can get at my email best of three.
on the minus side, slow connection is slow, on every page, everywhere. tis like trying to access tumblr via the 90s. not very worky.

I can't settle and concentrate. I started a book but it was blah so I put it down again. I've re-read two of the Secret Avengers volumes from yesterday. I like Reverie and Iliad. SHIELD is pretty much evil though. I mean, mind control, evil. Probably editing Avengers so they think they agreed to things, evil. Ripping Mockingbird's mind apart, evil. And all of it to save money? No all of it to force Avengers into situations they'd never willingly go along with. Trying to get 616 Hawkeye to kill ought to be an obvious stupid idea. Making them leave Mockingbird behind ought to come back to bite them. There's no justification for how they're operating. But the punchline has not yet arrived, so I don't know if it's 'SHIELD: pretty much evil'.

I was wondering if Coulson is possessed. I'll either find out when the 6th thing I ordered finally arrives or I'll keep wondering it forever. But the thing that was body hopping at the start of Reverie he reckoned did something to eyes that indicated which body it was in? So interesting then that it requested the presence of the one eyed dude and got spotted by the guy in sunglasses. And a psychic entity could hide behind those reversible memory wipes, if they're proof against absolutely anything thrown at them, as Hawkeye found out the hard way. SHIELD using him like that: evil.

Is Hill just evil? That's kind of boring.

A 19 year old director is too comics though. I mean, a 19 year old hasn't finished growing a brain yet (no I mean in science for reals) so them being mature enough to decide the lives and deaths of SHIELD agents is a big nope.

Coulson is interesting cause everyone is like 'Phil, is that you?' or 'Cheese! How are you doing!' as if they all know him everywhere. Only he's supposed to be kind of new? Maybe? So I think it's Copperbadge who thinks he's got most useful superpower, make everyone know and like and trust him.

That would be super lonely though. Like, how would you ever trust someone having real feelings?

Clint didn't remember him though, Coulson was all 'we've actually met' and he was like he wasn't paying attention.

... C/C plot bunny ahoy...

Comics world is super complicated and has so many world ending whatsits running around that they sort of lose punch. They're just random stuff and things.

Especially if there's years worth of issues in a row and they still haven't gone anywhere with their big spooky threat.

Memory wiping is incredibly self defeating though, as explored in the Mockingbird stuff. If you can't trust your own memories you can't trust anyone or anything, especially including your allegiances. Rhodey has the big speech to the AI about fighting smart so you don't do recruiting for the enemy, and this is the same thing from another angle. If your own people don't know why they should trust you, then why would they? Why even work for you, if they can't know the reasons? In the comic it's literalised as memory wipes, but with classifieds all over things it's simply not gone in in the first place, but people are meant to act on it anyway. People don't know why they're doing what they're doing. And that makes it all fall apart. Mess. Foolish.

But the one person at the top wanted that degree of control. Only then the person not quite at the top used it against the one at the top to take over. Memory wipe war.

Dollhouse time? Replacement memories are of the bad, especially remote control ones.

Also if the original tech is injectable and later someone invents remote control wasps then you could just have a swarm of things stinging that tech into everyone everywhere and boom, mass mindwipe on command. Fnord. Reverie.

And that's even before there's more than one player with the tech.

There are a couple of potential apocalypse scenarios that just get too weird to rescue. This would be one of them. Mind wipes are of the bad.

Yet very dramatic.

Also today I cleared all the stuff off the piano. If I can manage without using it as furniture for a few days then I'll contact one of the places that say they do piano storage. And ask them to figure how much it costs to make it work proper again, since at the moment not all the keys go down and many of them do not come up again. But storage is the current important part. I want that space back. Then I can start rearranging other things.

I need to get my hallway cleared out first though, which means actually throwing the VHS taped off the TV collection I've replaced with DVDs out instead of just stacking them with that vague intention. Also resolving to properly throw away all them card wrappers for DVDs, the outer sleeves some things come with that don't seem terribly helpful. Also also figuring how to get rid of the heater/cooler box I don't use.

Everything needs doing first, so it's out of the way for all the other things that need doing first.

I miss my computer. I hope they wake it up again and it works nice.
I hope I don't go losing data. I have no idea what the backup situation is.

So many things need done.

But I'm probably going to bed early instead cause I'm just tired tired.
