Ancillary Mercy
Oct. 28th, 2015 07:22 pmI'd like to say something smart about Ancillary Mercy
but I'm pretty much just going 'eeeee' and happy dancing in my head.
I like these books.
Also it is very relaxing to have everyone referred to as 'she'. Every now and then you get translations that remind you there are actually people we'd call males around, but most of the time, 'she' for everyone. And that means such a wealth of seems-female characters, and never just knowing which ones will be flattened into which plots. It's far too smart to do that anyway, but still, I find I'm not tensed for it the way other books induce.
I like the issues its getting into and want to see where it's going with them.
... some days being able to read a whole book a day is a bit frustrating though, seeing as then you have to wait for the author to actually write the next one.
... I realise there's a lot of books in the world but the 'eeee' to 'ugh' ratio remains difficult, so I like it when there's more from a good one.
I like these. Thinky, but via action, and I don't tend to see it coming.
