Atlantis 2-05
if someone is going to say 'you mean they put all their prisoners here, regardless of their crimes' then it helps if the preceding statement actually does mean that. I mean he just said 'some of us are innocent, only a few are actual murderers' which means only the thing they've all been saying for minutes, that most criminals claim to be innocent.
Of course it is completely utterly obvious that a place with a very low crime rate that has been restocking an island full of prisoners for centuries has to be getting them from somewhere.

Also, if there were any female prisoners at all, the place would be Australia by now. But Andromeda already did that story.

Also also, I think its a plenty good plan, but the Wraith wouldn't let it work. They cull back the technology on purpose, has already been said.

otoh I like it when the bad guys are smart, and use of radio was smart.

"I was beginning to think you were afraid to fight."
"No, just naturally lazy."
professional soldier there.

I like the nice grey dress girl is wearing. Long and with shine and stripes. Nice one.

Yup, the island prison isn't enough, in league with the Wraith. Thought so.

Looky, a Wraith with an actual individual personality. Excellent.

... Okay, when did Weir lose her mind entirely?
She's sitting there with one four person team against an entire *planet* and she's all "you do not want to do that". She isn't talking like a diplomat. Or anyone with a brain. She's talking like a testosterone poisoned numbskull. Lame. Very, very lame.

Also, the shapes on the uniforms still make me think they bought a bunch of Andromeda stuff and are busily reworking them to be more individual. Its the overlapping front. Looks familiar.

I don't like the new guy. Talk about testosterone poisoned. Struggling against bindings that get tighter when you struggle? No brain. Not right.

I mis Tyr. Real Tyr, when I was watching, like purple Trance. Fascinating race there.

Why do the puddlejumpers ever go *out* of stealth mode? Talk about nonsensical.

Also, *don't* dial Atlantis. Dial some backup site, in case the Wraith can *figure out where you're going from the symbols*. Dimwits.
When the enemy capabilities are unknown, you assume they're *good*.

And oh look, our wonderfully moral heroes have doomed the planet. Go team US.

Atlantis continues to irritate me. Is getting so Rodney isn't even the worst part.

Also, I bought three layers of chocolate fingers on Friday afternoon and now I have none left. Which is annoying because (a)I have no chocolate and (b)I know I've eated enough to make myself ill again.
Idiot me again again.

Atlantis 2-06
So now I'm wondering if the blowed up ships are somehow all in perfect orbit or if that is just the leftover junk after lots and lots of falling.
I think too much.

Bodies? *Ten* thousand year old bodies? Wowsa that place lacks vermin.

"Bring only weapons you can conceal"
knowing better than to say bring no weapons

So is newboy (Ronan?) meant to be a psychotic bastard? Looks like it. Great.
Annoyance! Much, much annoyance!

Why are all the Atlantis people nuts? Not even smart-and-nuts.

Interesting definitions about ZPMs.

More of that scientist guy with the accent.

(Residual annoyance that they blew up the pretty one last year.)

Lack of scotsman.

Two people survive from the whole planet and Ronan knows the other one?
Huh, 300 from the planet. Better odds.
But still, *planet*. Eesh.

I'm just thinking, the 'have to live in this universe' problem probably means if they get it wrong it go boom. BOOM boom.

Redshirt about to get fried?
Yup. :eyeroll:

Rodney sent someone to get crispy fried.
Someone with a world class brain.
Heh. Guilt guilt guilt.

Now everyone is treating Rodney like he is the jerk. Er, no, he did exactly like always, with appropriate approval. This doesn't track.
I'm annoyed with this show. Half the time I plain don't buy the reactions.

I like that there are survivors. 'Last of a doomed planet' is so cliche.

Rodney's Manhattan Project speech is perfect. I lack knowledge, I'm no physicist, but it moved me. Is very right for Rodney.
First moment I've actually liked him.

I hope it proves that the Ancients weren't smarter than the now people. No particular reason they should be. Just more knowledgeable.

best case / worst case
love that bit

Unfortunately the military guy speech is practically a guarantee this wont work. I mean it would solve all their problems, and they already do that once a season on SG1, and its always such a pain to invent new problems.

know McKay, have to protect him from himself
see its things like that that make me wonder why they ever let him out of the house, let alone the galaxy.

"He asked me to trust him."

And of course Zelenka comes up with something entirely different.

I hate the writing. I really do. Rodney being that insufferably arrogant is stupid. He was wrong on SG1. The writing is setting him up to be very wrong here. And then he'll learn from it? No, because then the entire basis of his character would change. Doesn't happen on TV.

Also, always a good idea to bet on the inherent unpredictability of the universe. Chaos rules.

Yeah, of course he's wrong. All go boom. Naturally.
gods I hate it when the plot is this predictable. Utterly boring. We learn nothing new about the characters, Rodney gives his best speech ever only to be wrong about it, utter boredom.
eta: also, it occured to me later, they mention that guy who died, like invoking him to get this thing done, and then they have it all go wrong. And thats like making dead guy wrong. Messing with a RL story, invoke then screw over. Not of the good.

Treachery! What a surprise! Because obviously there has to be some reason he can't go home.

"We must not speak of this when we return to Atlantis"
oh yeah, like that isn't going to bite you in the ass

gah! Annoyance *and* boredom.

Dedalus to the rescue, yay.

really big boom.

Why the hell did they bother with this episode? Why? Nothing new. Lots of stupid. Do they want us to hate Rodney? I was there already!

Okay, I'm beginning to actively dislike this show. I hate this episode. I don't hate many episodes of anything I keep watching. But this was boring and annoying at the same time. Stupid.

I also watched the last two weeks of SG1. Still feels like a spin-off show. I still like it well enough. I think I like the philosophical discourse. Sort of. Arguing about free will vs worship, fair enough. Except for the actual issue is becoming just as godlike in your own way vs becoming godlike only in that exact same way.
What they did to Vala - one, if they got rid of her to make way for Sam, you'd think they'd have learnt better with Daniel and... you know I can't even remember replacement guy's name right now, and he was there all season... J something. ANYways, you can't give one person a heroic death to make way for another who arrived in that same episode, it makes the new one look bad. Even if it is someone we knew before. The writers actually put a lot of effort into making the not-Vala parts of the team look bad. Therefore she has to be alive so they can do some kind of making it all up to her thing, or else our team will be left looking bad. Which is dumb.
Two, SG1 has totally lost the emotional impact of 'deaths', especially deaths that actually have a way out mentioned on screen. I mean Vala has only been there a half dozen episodes and she's already come back from the dead once. They have this revolving door policy on death. They really have to work it to get the viewer to take death seriously.
Which is also why its so very unpleasant when they decide to not resurrect someone. I mean Janet is dead and that was a whole big deal. SG1 have more lives than cats, she goes off planet once and she is permanently deceased? Nasty.

oooh, I just thought, how far back can these Origin dudes go to resurrect someone? The funnest thing with the goa'uld was watching them take over someone. Wouldn't that be a nasty way to bring back Janet?

ANYways, Vala, not very dead. Just a bit dead.
(Note to self, watch Princess Bride next, I'm sure there's a quote I'm missing there.)
