Continuum season 4

beccaelizabethI just watched pretty much all of this in a row.
That was a lot of twists for six episodes.
I think I'd have to rewatch to unpack details. I got the impression they tried to introduce or use more female characters, but there still seemed to be an upper limit on how many per episode, and I still feel that men and their choices were what drove the whole thing. Which is frustrating.
But. Kiera got her ending.
As I was watching I was vaguely annoyed that we saw how it worked out. But I know more people would have been super annoyed to not know. I just feel like watching her go through the portal and then having to set out to change the future together would be a pretty good end too.
But they followed though on their time travel rules. She successfully changed the future, made a better world for her kid... and her alternate timeline self, so, there's no place in the world for her. You really can't go home again.
And she couldn't go back, either, because more time travel would risk what she had just achieved.
So, as happy an ending as the setup allowed, and pretty satisfying. But bittersweet.
Probably she'll be a timecop now, and recruit other ghosts. Or retire and relax. But really, she is not awesome at relaxing.
It packed a lot of deaths into two discs. Very messy. Hardly any time for emotional fallout, let alone legal.
But I don't see how half those people are going to walk free after Kiera left.
And the last season wasn't exactly about law enforcement or justice, except for then Carlos put his foot down about it, so I can see him getting back on a good path.
Continuum was intricate. Or tangled. It had a lot of characters and killed a lot of them, some of them repeatedly, or in alternate timelines. Some of them one self killed another, which, way psychological, but twisty. And all the politics and money and corporations, it's just... really ambitious, to tell through the story of one cop who wants to go home.
It did a lot of good stuff.
Next time I'll watch it slower and do more thinking about how.
