The Flash season 3 Invasion xover

I'd like to say it makes more sense now, but they seem to have chopped it into three different types of story, of stages, or something. It's a mind boggling jam packed rush even from the start.
This is a weird moment to use to get everyone up to speed on Flashpoint.
Hero vs hero fights with mind control? All my least favourite things at once. So *boring*. No ethical dilemmas or personal disagreements or character, just fight fight crunch. Boring.
Making mind control jokes at Mick? *His team* making mind control jokes at Mick? When they are the ones that know he was a mind controlled slave of the Time Masters?
Oh I like them all so much less now.
Jax making that comment about 'didn't know he had a mind' would be so out of character, I'm going to remember he's Firestorm and say it's a Martin thing. He's always making that exact kind of comment, and got his comeuppance for it over the other other mind control later.
Mick making the comment about Supergirl's xray vision seeing everyone's bits was crude, but "Just ignore him" does not seem appropriate. I mean, she could be looking, they don't know each other well enough to know.
... the whole comment is way more interesting in trans headcanons though. Like, then he has a reason to wonder. Not canon relevant, they're just being rude.
It distracts them from the tactical thing that Barry really should have passed on about knowing your ground before you pick the fight. She shouldn't have been trapped like that. And going in in a clump is just... embarrassing.
Also, if Supergirl is that fast, how was the President hit? She should have got him out of there like whoosh.
I can buy it as Kara being too new, but I don't like it.
Kara asking after Heatwave as code name... I don't know what the correct response to Mick saying true and factual things in a plain voice with a pleasant expression should be, but I feel 'colorful backstory' is a desperate flail fail.
... Mick mentioning his pshrink is the first time actual mental health professionals have been mentioned so far. So many things would be different if ... *sigh*
Martin talking to Caitlin about Killer Frost? Did they just choose to forget the role of medication in stabilising his previous behavioural problems? For that matter it's an appropriate moment to mention he was crazy under a bridge and got better. Be supportive with true and useful facts? Saying Killer Frost wasn't her? Is the exact wrong way to go. She's got to take control.
The Flash message from the future... okay, I know the ending, so I'll not say much. But the message is that everyone back home was changed while they were away and not to trust anyone. Why hide that from the ship full of people who were also away? Why have that have precisely zero effect? Rubbish use of that thread. So much more should have changed for them.
Also, how do they know the message is relevant at that iteration and that moment?
They packed so much in the only bit I managed to properly care about was the Wally story. I don't get why Iris is on team lie to him though, you'd think someone on this show would learn. Well, Cisco has, but still. Ugh.
Yaay Kid Flash, and please to be telling him reasonable reasons, like he needs training and experience that are not dreams.
The appearance of the newspaper though... if they can even check that, what has happened to their Gideon, how much future knowledge is in there, and what reason other than temporal can of worms do they have to not use it for research? Even focused so it won't tell them tomorrow, what is it they're ignoring? More than just a page.
The change was good.
But it still mentions Reverse Flash, and I want to see if/when *that* changes.
Like, Reverse Flash was obsessed with that page for a reason. Top of my list of theories? It's his own personal future, a headline he hasn't participated in yet, so keeping that on track means he has a tomorrow.
Second is he knows the significance of the red skies.
Reverse Flash being undone should screw up that day along with all the rest. Grandfather paradox is a problem, not a solution.
... I am focused on the wrong bits.
Alien Invasion setup achieved. Now to wait for Arrow so I can see the middle...
