I was reading some sedoretu fic
and it just seems, like, really practical and useful and stuff.
Like, those relationships staying together seems solid.

Like they were raising a family together, so there's four adults and three children, which already is better than being outnumbered by children. One small enough child can outnumber plural adults. But say they're of an age that they only need one adult to supervise, and maybe one other adult is cooking a foods, and that leaves two whole adults who can do relationship building stuff. Or go to work, obviously. But in these tiny families modern stories push there's not so much support or free time, so it seems like a carefully equitable set of four would have more room to do the work even if thy have the same number of kids between them. Plus it's harder to have something happen that leaves a single parent or orphans.

And obviously people team up without being married too, but that's often more temporary and contingent and not usually committed to joint decision making, so a more permanent arrangement just seems more worky.

And then I'm like, self, you have none 3d friends and never dating, where you find three whole spouses from? That's just ambitious.

... I guess I also like the expectation some of those relationships are permanent but not expected to have sex. That seems useful too. And then you get one of each of sex friends too, which is tidy. Though not much room for nonbinary people, but most of the stories are about negotiating and rearranging the restrictions anyway.

But three people you get to keep seems like a good start.
