Barry gets a mindwipe and Iris actually thinks about leaving him that way.
People in this show worry me.

Her big 'that's when we fell in love' moment? Someone's definitions are very wrong. Grief and sympathy were not romantic love. Being there for each other is a necessary part of a relationship but that moment was two children being sad and I do not think it belongs in a romance story.

Also it plain pisses me off that every character is Batman now. I mean it used to be that Bruce Wayne was powered by the pain of loss, but Clark Kent wanted to know people and help them, and Diana wanted to show them a better way, and... basically everyone else had their own motivations. Different. Diverse. But now? Every story tries to make them Batman. And it's weird and rude and wrong. Most police get up in the morning and go to work because they want to uphold law and order. They don't have deep dark grief driving them. Why does the story go so wonky?

That said, this is the story they're telling, and Barry accepting that about himself is one part of that story. Iris loving him because of it is... the story they're telling. And Iris willing to start over if he got to be happy is kind of nice, but misguided.

We did get an explicit statement of why he ended Flashpoint though. Because he was losing his memories. He could have had the happy life, but he would have lost Joe and Cisco and Iris and had to start over, and rather than do that he... sent someone to kill his mother.

... that does not get less creepy.

I mean, stated this way around, he just killed his mum to get to grow up with his fiancee, and that's, you know, creepy.

This show makes so many weird choices.

So he could have been carefree but he'd have lost the life he already has, so he chooses to care. Yay. Which is also the opposite of the be a god god doesn't care plan.

... why do they think god doesn't care? I mean, theologically, this is an unsound position.

What else... Heatwave has a copycat and he's kind of pathetic.

If the court system has no settings for 'our witness got hit on the head and needs a hospital' then that seems a bit not good.

Barry going to court and swearing to tell the whole truth and then just cheating... how often does he go to court and leave out that he's the Flash? I mean, that should be a Thing, not a lalala.

Why is it that everyone who gets sucked in to the orbit of team Flash abandons their own personal ethics and embraces the core not caring about law position? I mean, it's because the story doesn't want to deal, but this version of the Flash is not the best, and is pretty scary.

Savitar having no memory but still existing is excused by the 'the more you time travel the less the rules apply to you' rule. And he mentioned Thawne still existing. Which he pretty soon won't via Legends, but still might whenever the plot wants him. Too complicated. Can't make ethics when cost and consequence are whatever the writers say they are.

Oh, also? Looking at a person and seeing a non person? I still don't understand how *any* of them can do that, let alone believe all of them at once would. It's core to the plot, and it doesn't strike me as a human reaction. Neither does it mesh with the 2024 stuff. Two Flash, no waiting? Finally they can work shifts! I mean, you'd have the same problem of wanting to fit in the same niche in everyone's lives as the other guy, but Joe has adjusted to an extra son before. I purely don't get it.

I do understand how a time remnant created explicitly to die could be bitter about that, like a second after he decided to do it. He'd remember thinking this was a good idea, then realise it was going to happen to him. But Barry is always plenty self sacrificing enough to do that. His first thought is kill himself.

which is also a problem, obviously.

If this is how they're going to approach limiting the use of one of the more brain breaky powers, to point out the new version can make very different choices, well, that's a thing, but... *sigh*

I did like Barry acknowledging he's got darkness in him. He needs to notice that more often. But the story goes weird places with it.

So, I think they've got some weird ideas of how humans work and what the important bits are.

But I know next episode has some added interest, so I can look forwards to that.
