beccaelizabethToday I had a really good dream, but I did not write it down, so now I've only got bits of it left. I was reminded by seeing a gifset of Aiden Gillen, because he was in it and there was kissing. It was a bit game of thrones but I dont watch that so obviously not very much that. But I got to turn into a dragon and defeat my enemies by winning all their power, and my husband was pretty and competent but not as cool as me, so, good dream.
There was a bad man who kept control by way of a vast army of lawyers and being really good with a sword. Like, a specific type of sword. Which was rare, and not taught widely. My husband as played by AG was a master of the form, but he had been away, and when he came back all the places it had been taught were demolished and repurposed, so he was nearly the only master left.
So obviously mr evil swordsman had to fight him.
Except his whole bit relied on him being the one to choose weapons, so he actually put a lot of work into provocation and manuevering people so they knew they had no chance against the lawyers but figured they might have some against the sword.
But the stakes on these fights weren't just life and death, but life, death, and a substantial chunk of your stuff. There were elaborate layers of rules on what could go in as stakes and how one could win it without killing or dying, and how one cold legally be in the clear if killing. So AG got to provoking the evil guy back, until both sides were all in. But I played a substantial role in this manuever, since 'all' included wives.
Which sounds sexist stupid, but, was actually sneaky.
Because once part of the stakes, once involved, one could take action. And I had a few minor magics up my sleeve, on the level of good dice rolls, that weren't enough to win a straight up fight but were enough to make all the difference in a close one.
So I temped mr evil into over extending on many levels, and then when we won, we got his everything.
Including big dragony power for me. I was gold and shiny and awesome.
And then there was some doubt about accidentally losing the power if kissing, but I decided to keep the husband and not worry about the power, because what was being a dragon for power compared to what we could do together? Want more power, go win it again, together.
Was pretty good.
More romance should have the bit where they win duels and do magic and ascend to power together. Partnership.
