i was reading on tumblr that DC aren't doing right by their reporter characters lately
and have noticed the same in the tv shows, they don't really seem to value them or know how it works.

It crossed my mind today that this might be because
journalists just say true things
and maybe people have stopped believing that can make a difference.

... but if the only difference people believe in is done by punching, we are screwed.

It's likely partially because of the "fake news" problem - both the propaganda and outright lies disguised as journalism, and the Republican tendency to claim any news they dislike is "fake."

Nobody knows how to even model effective, ethical journalism anymore.
