Well that was a scream
Feb. 16th, 2018 06:33 amI just dreamed... I was going to say me, Mick and Len, but given I was a medical doctor and they were half brothers, I'm thinking it drew from the other famous roles of Wentworth Miller. Which I haven't even seen. But okay, really close brothers who share everything, that's... a thing.
We thought we had time travelled to, judging by the uniforms, slightly after Sharpe era, something where coming back from the colonies with no social connections was a viable if rare backstory. But then we went somewhere people kept treating 'Len' with far too much familiarity, and his twin turned up... his alternate universe mirror twin. So, same year, different reality, one with bonus sexism and even more racism, since we actively had colonies. But where I could pass for a lady of quality because I happened to be wearing a good dress, and be assumed to know some 'nursing', but was a very long way from modern hygiene or pharmacology.
And then xenomorphs attacked. Our group was mostly women, so we'd got Ellen Ripley to protect us, but I still ended up having to take one out with a knife. Got a forearm splash of acid and spent the last moments of the dream desperately trying to rinse it, and let me tell you, there is not enough water in the world. That part is the worst. This always happens when I dream xenomorphs, whatever you do with them you're screwed. Ugh.
There were also some really really big wolves who might have been werewolves and legged it at the first sign of alien. And there was some kind of internally directed politics going on, so it wasn't a great time to be not what you seem. But they didn't really have much of a paradigm for people from through the looking glass, they'd probably find us as much a horror story as the aliens, especially other-Len, since we knew the secret of his ethnic origin and this was the kind of society where that would really really matter.
Just... nasty all up and down.
On the plus side, awake now.
