beccaelizabethI finally watched the Arrow portion of the Invasion xover.
the Arrow writers use some words that Flash writers typically do not, so Cisco sounded weird.
Also why, exactly, was anyone surprised that the aliens were in space?
I'm not even touching the computer code gematria thing. I've watched Stargate, I can ignore many things. including hacking alien ships to find they're coded in a particular set of 'old' earth numerology.
but.
why so boring?
I mean, it was like a one episode Previously. We learned nothing about where anyone was at emotionally that we didn't amply know. Maybe in season 5 new viewers need the recap, but, blah? It was even jarring because since when did Thea feel like that? And then just like that she stopped? Phoning it in much? Boring, boring, boring. A decent wish fulfilment dream sequence could have done so much more. Like, it was such a waste to have them all have compatible dreams? Everyone having their own Felicity was a start but why not more incompatibilities? The whole thing was designed around Ollie and it's just wrong. The point of an xover is there are other stars? And why didn't we get time for one line about Black Mercy from Kara, who has been there? Just, they made an entire episode out of Ollie is at a party with everyone he loves but then leaves because duty.
If I really want to read in to it we did see he really wants his father figures, plural, to approve of him, and he'd really rather not be playing grown up in precisely the way he is, since he dreamed his father into the role. I know the reason Tommy wasn't there is Doylist, but Watonian it does tidy away the competition. And he misses Laurel. And so many people's Issues by now go back to him they can be a team together. So, that's a thing.
But it still seems like a waste of story.
I mean, have the Dominators run them through variations to see how they can be bought of something, or have everyone try to be Arrows and Canaries at once, or actually introduce us to Ray's fiance. Tell us one solitary thing that both makes sense and shows us a thing we didn't know before. This is like, Ollie has issues, the end.

Yes I know the show is called Arrow but it might as well not have been anyone else real in there.

I sound annoyed but it's more I've been watching episodes on fast forward and they still seem long. and they're not going to agree with me morally. and it's just... not my thing.
