beccaelizabethI'm reading a fic right now that is really leaning on the aggression-is-attraction angle
and it is creeping me out.
Like, possibly time to bail out of the story, creeping me out.
Because everyone around them keeps pushing the same narrative. Their friends all interpret it the same way. Their elders, supervisors, professors, all seem to have an opinion, and opine that they are into each other and should be put in rooms together until they figure it out.
And the evidence they are working from is they keep repeatedly hurting each other bad enough to need medical attention, after many years of the same behaviour.
I thought the fic would start from there and fix it, have attraction grow after they get over the aggression phase and find common ground, but no, it is substantial numbers of words in and it just seems to honestly think that repeated assault is a sign of boiling sexual tension.
So I think stopping reading it would be a good idea.
