Illyria, Spike and Angel survive the alley
Illyria gets to missing Wesley and Gunn
so she goes and gets them
from the nearest available dimension
which would be the Birthdayverse, since that had already been accessed from the regular continuity that once recently
She gets Wes and Gunn to go with her because they think their Angel is dust but she says she can take them to Angel
and she does
just not their Angel
yes, this would require Illyria to have more control over dimensions that she had last time we looked
but then you end up with that Wes and Gunn mixing with main Spike and Angel, and Illyria who is pretty freaky on her own, and might sometimes be Fred. And that Wes and Gunn hadn't met Fred, so they react to Illyria-Fred as a new person only. And our Angel has to deal with a Wes and Gunn who have seen him totally crazy and are used to babysitting him. And Spike... gets to point and laugh? I don't know, Spike might not belong in this story much. Or he could be like a relatively neutral observer.
but all kinds of twisty obsessiveness could happen. It would be neat.
