Once again my opinion has not changed.
That is a whole lot of spectacle. Intricate. Beautifully realised.
And I don't see how it serves the story.

After about an hour and a half in the FX and the story click together, but, if only the climax works, the climax does not in fact work.

There's very little heart to this movie. Arrogant man learns to die for others is a story, but I feel like it's the only story the MCU has been telling, and I am done. Do white men need telling this so often?

As a story of learning to live with disability I... don't feel like it's actually about learning to live with disability.

And the attempt to make it less racist by removing some actual asians is a problem.

This was not the best story to tell and this was not the best way to tell it.

But it put a lot of money on screen and did splendid things with it.




Also, I know I always complain about roles for women, but I feel this is not the way to fix things
because it's the same story as Hope and Scott again
since she exists to make Strange look cool.

Cast this different, write this different, make the story work as an audio first and then get back to me.

Boring as is.



Should have been better and I very vaguely want to mine it for parts, but, no.

Yeah, re the Ancient One's casting -- erasing Asian representation by increasing women's representation was divide'n'conquer, setting the interests of marginalized/oppressed groups against each other. One of several nasty fails in the MCU, as you've noted.
