Thor Ragnarok

There are some epic and stylish bits in this movie.
The second use of Immigrant Song, for instance, and how it builds on and contrasts with the first.
... though I have seen on tumblr the same bit set to I Need A Hero, and it works ridiculously well.
I think the rewatch was less fun for me than the first watch. Some of the funny bits seemed repeated too much this time, and I spent more time in squirmy embarrassment for Thor in general. And does nobody in universe understand the Hulk Banner situation?
But Loki, and the whole family... everything, and just that they pulled it apart and made it ridiculous and terrible and pulled off the epic ending... er, I probably mean more terror than terrible there, but I'm not entirely sure... ANYways, it set out to do a very different thing than the first two movies, changed how I watch them, asked and answered questions about glory and conquest, and just made glorious messes.
Which obviously is the problem too. Lots of dead, many abruptly and with little fanfare. The story changed out from under them. And if you liked teh first two movies it's a very good trick if it can get you to like this one.
... I think it managed.
Hela and Valkyrie are both types that women seldom get to play, so nice. But I'll keep saying needs more women until they're at least 50% women.
So I like this movie, and bits of it I've rewatched every time they come past on tumblr, but I have a few niggles.
And a lot of tired now, so I won't be moving on to the new to me movie tonight.
But I've got that to look forwards to.
