Well that was tedious

beccaelizabethSpent the morning waiting, with varying degrees of grumping, for my newest computer to Auto Update.
It is Windows 10 1803 now and I think working? Probably?
It has all sorts of rubbish already installed. I uninstalled the candy games. I don't know what some of the other bits are. Guess I'll have to look them up. All I want it to do is read Ao3 and do word processing, I dont get why I have to keep upgrading the thing to do the same old same old.
*sigh*
I have also been reading a months old Asimov's, and thus far am not impressed. I mean, there was a story about trying to get the USA to ditch fossil fuels, and in the middle someone found a virus that had bad health effects only in combination with fossil fuels, and the oil companies blamed green activists, and then by the end of the story it was, in fact, a green activist what done it, so what was the point of the story? I mean, if the point it meant to make is that global warming is going to kill us and the oil companies are liars, then that bit is contrary to purpose, and if the point is that global warming is a lies and oil company yaay, then all the rest is. Boring.
Story was also optimistic in the relative value of votes versus corporations, or possibly it was just pushing the idea that this billionaire who bought the election did it for good reasons.
oooooor it could just be one of those stories that presents an issue as complex and multi sided
but dude, global warming is real and we're going to die.

Also, I am ridiculous, and have stopped fiddling with the new computer because it is New and therefore Scary and I need a break.
Even though all it has been doing is sitting on the desk doing Auto Update all morning.
Makes me anxious.

Eh, once it is working I can read in bed much easier than with the big laptop.
So that'll work fine.
