beccaelizabethToday I pretty much played Sims all day. I built houses for most of the hours, huge great unworkable things mostly, trying to figure out how to build a mansion without just getting multiples of the most expensive things.
The trouble with Sims houses is if you build them to look like real buildings they're entirely rubbish as Sims places. I have a house right now that takes my character half a game hour to leave to go to work in the morning. I have to send them to the pavement early or just wait while they go down stairs and across the garden. Stairs eat so much time it's ridiculous. So if you want to build something your Sim will actually use then you optimise it to be flat with tiny rooms right next to the exit pavement. Only then it looks rubbish.
I spent twice as long on the garden on one of the mansions because it has ready made rooms that are Outdoor rooms with hedges and so forth, but it turns out if you use them and then put foundations on your building, your garden now has foundations. But only in weird lumpy patterns. So, not best. So I deleted and started over and tried to remember what the other one did. It's very classy now, has an enclosed garden with planters, and a little zen garden with rocks to stare at, and a gnome maze.
Income isn't a problem after you get orchids because they're worth so much. Epic amounts of money. Now I don't know what to do with her money. And I don't need to work financially, but I need to if I want to get all the achievements.
... I could play more than one character to get all the achievements, but I have so many with this person already, she's stacking up the positive traits and it all gets easier every time you achieve one thing, so I might as well. I started with the archaeology and jungle explorer achievements but I've also done the money ones and the athletics ones and now the master chef. Oh and the gardener. And... the knowledges that aren't computers? And possibly something else. Which is a Lot. But now she doesn't hardly need to eat or sleep and doesn't at all need to talk to other sims and just about everything is optional now.
She built a rocket and explored another planet and got glowfruit and quill things and tentacle trees.
And there's only one plant left to find. It's a rare, but it's just not turning up if I buy seeds. I think it's the UFO plant but it's not turning up on rocket adventures yet either. So then you get to just try again.
But after that I'll have had one of each of everything. Not currently growing them, but got them.
The weird thing about Sims is it isn't very interesting but I keep playing it and then it's a lot of hours later. It's just the way it never ends. You can sit there clicking your sims needs and time passes like whoosh.
Also today a fire broke out on a lot near where I was fishing but I couldn't go in because fire and I couldn't extinguish the fire because I couldn't go in and then the reaper turned up so a sim was in the fire and just burned. So that's nasty. And I had death flowers but I couldn't go in so I couldn't do anything with them.
Once the fire burned through to the outside I could extinguish it, and when the other resident went in and came out on fire I could extinguish them. So like half successful?
Weirdly stressful for a bunch of pixels.
I don't like the Jungle Adventure a quarter as much as the adventures in Sims 3. There were more of them and interesting places that were not made up. Ish.
Lots of stuff seems better in Sims 3.
Except the gender options, where they're completely customiseable now.
But I don't know if 3 would work any more, with Windows having changed repeatedly.
I guess my day was boring but in such a way as it could, potentially, get interesting any minute, so then I played and played.
Which isn't particularly helpful or productive, really.
But did pass the time.
